Help us celebrate the career and accomplishments of retired Kearney Police Chief, Tom Carey at this free concert featuring Dennis Laffoon’s Great Balls of Fire – A tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl & Vicki Worden opening the show.

Dennis Laffoon’s Great Balls of Fire

Watch as Kansas City’s piano wild man, Dennis Laffoon creates an accurate recreation of the original wild man of Rock and Roll, Jerry Lee Lewis. Hear all of the 1950s hits from “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”, “Great Balls of Fire”, “Breathless”, “High School Confidential” and many more all expertly played in Laffoon’s signature style. If you’re really nice, he might even light his piano on fire!

Carl and Vicky Worden

After years of touring the country starting in the mid-late 80’s as a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, Carl Worden, is now back to his roots as a songwriter, and overall entertainer.

Carl has been dubbed, “The voice of Kansas City” by numerous artists and media members in the area.

Along with his wife and writing and performing partner Vicki, they will bring music that lifts you up, touches your soul and heart, and makes you smile, laugh and sing along.

Not only as a headliner, but also opening shows for current artists, as Tyler Rich, Dylan Scott, David Nail, Eric Church, Justin Moore, Josh Turner,as well as long time favorites, Little Texas, Keith Anderson, Gary Allan, Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle, John Fogerty, The Marshall Tucker Band and many more.

Covering classic and modern country, classic rock, party music, and top-notch original material, you will always leave the show wanting more.

Directions from Kansas City, Missouri:

  • Take I-35 N towards Des Moines
  • Take the MO-92 exit (6th street), EXIT 26, Turn Right onto MO-92
  • Follow MO-92 (6th Street) to Jefferson, Turn Left
  • Take Jefferson N through town to Jesse James Park (~ 2-3 miles)

Directions from St. Joseph, Missouri:

  • Take I-229 S to I-29 S
  • Continue to the MO-92 exit, EXIT 18, toward Smithville Lake (~25 Miles)
  • Turn Left onto MO-92, continue on until Jefferson St in Kearney (~23 Miles),
  • Turn Left
  • Take Jefferson N through town to Jesse James Park (~ 2-3 miles)
